From November 1 for approximately 1 month the walking, cycling and horse trails in the Hanmer Heritage Forest will be closed for logging operations to make the forest safe post the recent wind storms. The mechanised harvest operation is required as the wind damage has made this area unsafe for the normal windfall clearance techniques used extensively over the last month.
The Forest Amble Sculpture Walk will remain open (please note – No Mountain bikes at all on this trail) as will Easy Rider (MTB) and Lower Dog Stream (Walking) trails from Jollies Pass Rd down to Brooke Dawson Reserve. The Fairy Door trail from Brooke Dawson to Tarndale Reserve is also open at this time.
