While many of the forests in other parts of Canterbury have had some useful rain, the Hurunui seems to of missed out and with BUI (Build Up Index) numbers of >100, many of our trails are closed, especially those in the production forestry area of Hanmer Forest. While the Heritage Forest is open, as are the Woodlands area and of course, the St James, the trails North of Jollies Pass Rd are still closed to mountain biking. There is access to the DOC walking tracks on Mt Isobel but mountain biking is currently prohibited – bring on the rain

Our vision is creating a network of trails throughout the Hurunui District – walking or riding. From the East Coast beaches to the inland mountains of the Molesworth and St James, the Hurunui offers every type of experience, whether you are on a bike, a horse, your legs or their substitute!
