About
Our vision is creating a network of trails throughout the Hurunui District – walking or riding. From the East Coast beaches to the beautiful vineyards and farms of Waipara Valley, our trails offer every type of experience, whether you are on a bike, a horse or foot.
We aim to provide a coordinated approach to the development of trails throughout the region for recreation and well being and to keep everyone safe off major highways.
The Hurunui Trails Trust was created by a group of enthusiasts with a passion for trails throughout the Hurunui. The Trust has a role to encourage a collaborative and strategic approach to engage locals in the communities to build trails.
The Trust is the lead agency in supporting the Hurunui District Councils Walking and Cycling Strategy.

We are a volunteer organisation so all donations are welcome. Our fundraising project in 2025 is to raise funds to build a bridge to finish the Waipara Valley Vineyard Trail.
